MP3 metadata guide

Edit MP3 tags online—without uploading files

SonaRack is a free MP3 metadata editor and ID3 tag editor that runs in your browser. It lets you edit MP3 tags online without installing software or creating an account. The files you choose—including their filenames and tag values—are held in memory in the current tab. They are not sent to SonaRack.

Closing or refreshing the tab clears that working session, so download edited files before leaving. SonaRack cannot recover a previous file, draft, or download because it does not keep a server-side copy. Read the full details in the Privacy policy.

Processing starts only after you choose files. A damaged file or unsupported ID3 structure can fail without blocking other valid files in the same selection. The editor reports those file-level errors in the queue so you can remove the affected item and keep working with the rest.

What you can edit

Song details
Title, artist, album, album artist, year, track, disc, and genre.
Credits and notes
Composer, BPM, comment, copyright, and unsynchronized lyrics.
Album artwork
Preserve, replace, or remove the front cover. Replacement artwork must be JPEG or PNG and no larger than 10 MiB.
Batch changes
Set, clear, or preserve shared fields across ready files, and auto-number tracks in the current queue order.

Single-file edits affect only the selected draft. Batch changes target ready files and show whether each shared field will be preserved, set, or cleared before you apply the operation.

How to edit MP3 tags

  1. Step 1

    Choose files

Choose or drop up to 20 MP3 files, within the stated size limits.

  2. Step 2

    Edit tags

Edit one file, or open batch changes for fields shared by ready files.

  3. Step 3

    Download

Download the selected MP3 or all valid files together as a ZIP.

Your audio is not re-encoded

Tag editing changes the metadata area of an MP3. SonaRack does not decode and re-encode the MP3 audio payload during this process. That keeps the audio stream out of a lossy conversion step. Metadata support still has practical boundaries: SonaRack does not promise that every unknown tag structure is preserved or that every player displays every field identically.
